The artistic director, Àlex Ollé, will premiere the opera L’amore dei tre re on October 28th at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

L’amore dei tre re is a story of love and domination, with a libretto by Sem Benelli, that seems to anticipate surrealism and music of enormous emotional effectiveness. Set in a medieval Italy beset by barbarian invasions, it is the best known work by Italo Montemezzi, who rose to fame thanks to his acclaim among the leading conductors of the time.

The last time Àlex Ollé was at La Scala was in 2019 with the revival of the opera Quartett, after having been successfully premiered at the same theater in 2011.
