‘Carmina Burana’ will close Festival de Granada 2014

The Opera has always figured prominently in the International Festival Internacional de Música y Danza de Granada. This year La Fura dels Baus will be present through the renovating version of the cantata Carmina Burana, directed by Carlus Padrissa. The show, without intermediates, will be closing the festival on 10th and 11th of July (at 22:30h) at the Palacio de Carlos V in Granada.

The cantata, originally by German composer Carl Orff, was written between 1935 and 1936 from medieval texts that sing about spring, love and enjoyment of the senses. While it is often performed in concert form, Carmina Burana is a work intended for the stage, so that the vision of Carlus Padrissa and La Fura dels Baus place it in its true artistic dimension.

The concert will be at the 20th anniversary of the creation of the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía. The Venezuelan Manuel Hernández-Silva, newly appointed principal conductor of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, will take the OJA podium on the twentieth anniversary of its foundation to meet Carmina Burana, one of the most popular works of the twentieth century.
