The Naumon starts its journey after the installation of the new Leonardo Torres turbo-sail

The Naumon, the theater-opera ship and forum for dissemination and innovation led by La Fura dels Baus, begins its journey through the Iberian Peninsula. It begins its journey once installed and inaugurated its turbo-sail, a nautical innovation manufactured in Cantabria by the Bound4Blue company, which further strengthens La Naumon’s commitment to sustainability and new technologies. After the opening ceremony on Thursday 3 February at 11.30 in the Fishing Port of Santander, La Naumon will begin its tour of the ports of the Peninsula as a stage that will host exhibitions of art, innovation and sustainability. Destinations such as Bilbao, La Coruña, Porto, Lisbon, Huelva, Seville, Malaga or Valencia, to name a few, are on the route of the reborn floating agora by La Fura.

The new turbo-sail has been named after Leonardo Torres Quevedo (1852-1936), the name of a universal Cantabrian engineer and creator of algebraic machines, remote controls, dirigibles or the world’s first computer. Quevedo Towers, febrile to invent, enjoyed the spirit that is predicted for the crew of the brand new boat furera. La Naumon, as a laboratory and forum for the dissemination of initiatives on sustainability, invites all those companies and institutions that want to join this initiative to explain and participate with their projects in this peculiar journey.

In addition to the representations of La Fura dels Baus in La Naumon, the warehouse, with capacity for more than three hundred people, will serve as a forum for the dissemination of nautical travel, such as that of Magellan and Elcano, and of knowledge about marine life and its sustainability. Naumon, in fact, is a member of the Ocean Cities programme, which is part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Thus, in each port where La Naumon moors, schools, companies and citizens in general can attend and participate in the exhibitions that the winery hosts, as well as in the workshops on innovation and sustainability that are held. Many by the hand of the 18.org, the partnership that through epic actions spreads sustainable development.
