La Fura dels Baus is preparing the monumental staging of Elektra by Richard Strauss. It will be a magnificent unique production during the Umeå’s Capital of Culture 2014 on 14, 16, 19, 21 and 23 of August. The Opera, directed by Carlus Padrissa and produced jointly by Norrlands Operan, also involve many people from Umeå, together with several international partners.

Elektra, represented in a single act, will be one of the largest and most spectacular events along the consecration of Umeå as the European Capital of Culture 2014. La Fura dels Baus is working so the opera is a total and comprehensive work of art. Richard Strauss’s opera is an expressionist work based on the Greek myth and represents one of the most dysfunctional families in the history of literature.
