After realizing Mediterranean, Olympic Sea, the first macro-spectacle conceived by La Fura dels Baus, Pepsíclope is the company’s first approach to a large scale performance specially conceived for the presentation of a commercial product. In this case, La Fura was commissioned by Pepsi, through their advertising agent, to formulate an event for the presentation of a new type of soda can. This event,which had to be heavily attended, was based on the objects’ change of scale and in the installation of an enormous structure in one of the most visited plazas in Barcelona. The narrative represented in this macro-spectacle was the discovery of a huge soda can by a giant (Lady). The encounter between these two large scenographic elements and the manipulation of their movements was achieved by aerial acrobatics and special effects that maximized the spectacularness of this event.

Pepsíclope kept the key elements of La Fura’s theatrical language intact, and demonstrated that they could be easily applied to the realization of performances directly related to advertising or to product promotion.
