Le Château de Barbe-Bleue

Sinopsis

Judit, the protagonist of this opera, builds her castle, her own world, inside the castle of Barbablava; a closed environment, with its own walls and rooms. Then the theater space appeares as the total of the castle and it’s not to recreate the title of the play but to try to create our inside castle, that place where the characters face their fears.

Again, like in Diary of a missing person, dealing with abandonment and loss. A synthetic staging reduced to minimum expression, compiled in collaboration with Jaume Plensa, in order to not distract the viewer from the real heart of the matter: the break with a destiny that seems relentless.

Released in conjunction with “Diary of a missing person”, this work, one of the most unique by Béla Bartók, perfectly portrays the solitude of the inside, the castle we all carry inside
